SCHENECTADY (WRGB) - The Schenectady County Career Center is helping people improve workforce skills, without having to leave home.

They're offering free online job training for a variety of industries. They have nearly 5,000 courses that you can take, from home, to improve a skill or work towards earning a new certification.

Industries include healthcare, business, IT, customer service, administration, and more. You can also take classes to learn how to use different programs, like Microsoft Excel.

Program leaders say now, while many people are home, is a great time to improve your skills and make yourself more marketable if you're job hunting.

"I think it's important because when this is all over job seekers are going to want to set themselves apart from one another. So employers are going to be interested in looking at job seekers who are actively seeking out opportunities to upgrade their skills or learn new skills." Jennifer Bargy, the Director of Workforce Development from Schenectady County said.
